Amanita Sequencer 0.1.0 - free public preview

Platforms
- macOS Apple Silicon: VST3 and Audio Unit (AUv2), macOS 12+.
- Windows x64: VST3, Microsoft Visual C++ v14 Redistributable x64 required.
- Linux x64: experimental VST3, glibc 2.35+, X11/XWayland.

New in 0.1.0
- PLAY. The PLY button (left of REC) and the Play parameter switch the
sequencer on and off while the DAW plays; a change takes effect on the
next bar line, so the pattern stays on the beat. While PLAY is off the
sequencer is silent and the keyboard still plays the instruments.
SNC (SYNC) joins at the DAW position; TRG (TRIGGER) starts the pattern
from step 1. PLAY can be automated and is saved with the project.
- What you see is what you hear. The playing-step frame and the cursor on
a sample's waveform are now shown as they are heard: held back by the
plug-in's own latency and, in hosts that report it (VST3 presentation
latency; Bitwig does), by everything after the track's output. Several
instances behind different effect chains no longer run ahead of the sound.
- Recording puts a note where you heard it, so playback repeats what you
heard while recording. On an instrument track the note lands on the step
it sounded with. A sample track does not sound the key, so the note lands
on the step that was heard when you pressed it, also over DAW loops of
any length, seeks and tempo changes.
- REC: a click starts live recording and stops any recording; hold REC for
half a second (or Alt-click) for the step recorder; a right-click opens a
menu with START RECORD and START RECORD STEPS.
- Steps: hold a step for half a second to select it for editing, like a
middle click (with Shift it adds or removes the step). Alt-Shift-drag
paints the selection across the steps of a track, the way a plain drag
  paints steps on and off.
- New look of the header: square three-letter buttons PLY, SNC/TRG,
REC/STP, SKP and MOD. The playing step's frame is yellow and leaves a
fading trail; red on the steps now means recording; the dot of a step
with synth parameter locks is sky blue.
- A DAW loop no longer loses its end: with a hosted instrument that has
latency, the other tracks went silent for the last moment of every loop
pass. Their sound now plays through a loop wrap, a seek and a DAW stop.
- VST3: no locks or allocations on the audio thread before every block,
which could cause dropouts while an instrument loaded.
- Fixed a possible hang when a host prepared the plug-in or restored its
state off the main thread with a VST3 instrument inside, and two cases
where a replaced or removed instrument's latency kept being reported.
- Updated Russian PDF manual (0.1.0) available from the website.

Highlights
- Instrument and sample tracks are limited by available resources, not a fixed
internal track count; each has 256 steps on eight pages.
- Per-step notes, velocity, length, probability, retriggers, ties and slides.
- Synth parameter locks and eight-source modulation routing.
- Modulation of track SPEED, including straight, dotted and triplet rates.
- A recorder: live REC and a step recorder, from any MIDI channel.
- MIDI keyboard note entry for selected or held steps.
- Direct rotary-value entry with Cmd/Ctrl+click; Shift for fine adjustment.
- Plug-in hosting: VST3 on all platforms, plus AUv2 on macOS.

Freeware
Free to use for personal and commercial music production. Your music remains
yours. No account, payment or activation is required. This does not grant
permission to sell or mirror the plug-in; see FREEWARE-LICENSE.txt.
Third-party instruments and samples are installed separately and are not included.

Preview limitations
- macOS bundles are ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized.
macOS may block downloaded plug-ins. Do not disable system-wide security.
- Windows binaries are not Authenticode signed.
- Windows and Linux use local UTM build/test environments; no real Windows
or Linux DAW smoke test or native Wayland-only host test has been performed.
- The heard position of the frame, cursor and recorder was checked in
Bitwig on macOS; hosts that do not report the latency after the plug-in
(and Audio Unit hosts) compensate only the plug-in's own latency.
- BUILD-REPORT.txt in each archive records checks for that exact binary.
- No CLAP, Intel macOS, Rosetta or native Linux arm64 version is included.
- Existing Bitwig development use does not replace testing on your system.

State compatibility
This version writes schema v39 and accepts saved schemas v20-v39. Version
0.0.9 and older cannot read a project re-saved with 0.1.0. Older projects
open in SYNC with PLAY on and sound as before. Keep a backup of valuable
DAW projects before updating.

Each archive contains INSTALL.txt, BUILD-REPORT.txt, these release notes, the freeware licence
and full third-party notices/licences. The SHA256SUMS.txt file alongside
these downloads contains the hashes of the public archives.
